Rachel Wohl

Rachel Wohl is the founding Executive Director of the Maryland Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO). MACRO works to promote and advance the use of ADR programs, such as mediation, community conferencing and consensus building, and helps create, strengthen and expand ADR programs in Maryland’s courts, criminal and juvenile justice programs, state and local government agencies, neighborhoods, schools and universities, and businesses.

MACRO has created several initiatives, including the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence and its online customizable mediation posters, and Rachel was chosen by the International Association for Conflict Resolution to receive the Mary Parker Follett Award for Innovation in the Field of Conflict Resolution.

Rachel is a mediator, facilitator and attorney, and has helped design, strengthen and expand a variety of conflict resolution programs.  She has led workshops and made presentations on a variety of dispute resolution topics around the country and in Scotland. She is an adjunct faculty member of the Pepperdine University School of Law Straus Dispute Resolution Center, where she co-teaches "Mindfulness for Dispute Resolvers" with Len Riskin as a 3-day seminar each June and October, and she teaches an ADR Seminar at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Rachel co-chaired the American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section Task Force on Improving Mediation Quality, which produced a report that is available on the Section’s website.

Rachel practiced law as a civil litigator for many years, focusing on the rights of children, domestic violence survivors and the disadvantaged.  She served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Daily Record Legal Newspaper for six years.  During her legal career, she was chosen by the Maryland Legal Services Corporation to receive the Arthur W. Machen Award for outstanding legal service to the underprivileged, and received the Benjamin L. Cardin Pro Bono Service Award from the University of Maryland School of Law Alumni Association.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Rachel earned a Masters degree in film production and worked as a filmmaker.  She lives in Baltimore, Maryland with her husband and 18-year-old son.

At MBB, Rachel is the Board Liaison for the Arab-Israeli Conflict and the Fund Development Committee.
